Hi everyone! I was accepted into CS at UCLA and I am currently choosing between here and Vanderbilt for CS. They both cost the same for me, so cost isn’t an issue. I know that UCLA’s CS program is ranked much higher and is much more renowned than Vanderbilt’s (#13 vs #56), and there are more job opportunities considering that we are in California, but I’ve heard that I will basically have no social life as a CS major at UCLA and I still want to have a good college life. I really love both campuses, but ive also heard that Vandy is not as cutthroat as UCLA. Rather, its more collaborative. I’d really appreciate it if someone can address exactly what kind of social life I can have at UCLA. What is the typical workload like? How many all nighters do you have to pull every quarter? Will i be cooped up in my room just programming all day? Also, is it as cutthroat as people say it is? Any input is appreciated. Thanks for the help!
I’m also curious about this.
For the same price I would choose Vandy. All the benefits of a private and the students there are known as some of the happiest in the nation (even if subjective)
