I got accepted to CMU (SCS), HMC, and Penn (SEAS). Harvey Mudd gave me 10k so I'm leaning this way but I have some doubts:

I don't like (obsessively) playing video games and I occasionally hang out with Mary Jane and Sally D. School definitely has my focus during the week, but on weekends I like to party. Would the Harvey Mudd community work for me? if so, which dorm should I lean for? if not, what about the other claremont schools?

and also, do I need a car to do stuff off campus?

Your doubts are understandable, but unnecessary. You sound like you would fit in in a lot of the dorms - a lot of Mudders like to party and not play video games obsessively. But we do work hard during the week.

Having a car would certainly help with doing stuff off campus. But there is always lots going on at the 5-C's to keep you occupied.

AS tiyusufaly pointed out, don't forget there are 4 other colleges, all of which are great social outlets. While the other Claremont schools have a less nerdy reputation, they usually saunter up to Mudd for the party scene.

blaine236, don't worry, there are people interested in everything, much of it non-academic; music, hiking, biking, surfing, clubbing, partying. West and North were the best fits for your style, at least as of ~7 years ago.

I never had a car and rarely needed one.

Uhhh, Mudd is by no means a "nerd" school. 3 out of the 8 dorms are party dorms. Linde is full of stoners, West is full of drunkards and some stoners, and North is full of wanna-be frat guys.

Also Mudd throws the best parties on the 5Cs. Just last night was TQ night and it was unbelievable.

"West is full of drunkards and some stoners"

Some of us don't drink. For instance, I just play with fire so I got put in West.

Thanks for your responses. Mudd is definitely the most appealing now. SoCal for the win

Well of course not EVERYONE in the various dorms fit their respective dorm's stereotypes. But, quite a few do.
