Hello, as I am an international student starting to fill out FAFSA on the Web (Online), the Web wants me to enter my SSN (Social Security Number). However, I have no SSN since I am an international student. Do you guys have any idea what they want the international students to put in the SSN box?

Only if your parents are citizens, permanent residents or if you were granted asylum or something along that line. And btw, you cannot leave the SSN blank (you won't be allowed to move on because the system uses the SSN to identify you and determine your eligibility to file the FAFSA)

You cannot fill out the FAFSA without a SSN, you are not supposed to fill it out as an international students.

To get a SSN, you need a job on-campus or something similiar (internship). Then you can fill you FAFSA, but you don't get any benefit from it. However, some Colleges use the FAFSA to determine other forms of financial aid for internationals.

To be honest, I would be pretty surprised to learn about a college that requires the FAFSA of international students to consider them for need- or merit-based aid. I have researched a lot of schools during the last two years and have not come across a single one with such a policy.

So international students must fill out the ISFAA? Or are there other forms that must be filled out in order to receive some kind of financial aids?

The few colleges that consider international students for need-based aid either use the ISFAA or their own institutional financial aid application. If you want to apply for merit-based aid you don't have to submit the ISFAA.

Well, Internationals are required to fill up ISFAA if you wish to be considered for financial aid....further, few unis will require Certificate of Finance form in addition to ISFAA...it's always better to refer to your intended university(s) for specific details..
