so I know we can d/l the software once we get to case and are on the netowkr/have a case IP, but just for kicks, would any of you current students care the post somewhat of a list of the software offered?

hmmm, it appears the software center is down tonight, I can't get on right now...I'll try again in a few days when I get home

as I understand it, you can only get the software while on campus. I may be wrong though.

thanks fdsa... I was meaning to get back to this but I forgot about it

basically in order to get any of the software you need to have a Case IP address. The VPN software works for this, or connecting directly to Case's network through wired internet (ie at orientation if you care to) also works. The software is updated periodically, so you typically have to download new versions of some of the programs every fall (Photoshop, Mathematica, etc). Some of the software also requires additional fees (I'm pretty sure Endnote does, but I'm too lazy to sign onto VPN to check right now).
Certain courses will also provide you with access to other software packages (such as Visual Studio .NET for programming courses), so you should have anything and everything you could possibly want or need

When I log into the software center via Case's vpn and I try to access the standard software loadset, I see nothing. It lets me log in and say yes to the agreement just fine but after that it begins to go south. Is this occuring for anyone else? Is this because the spring semester is done? Some info or help would be nice because I just got a new laptop for case and I am trying to get it up to speed with office and what not. Thank you.

hmm, I am still able to access all of the software. It is possible that you would need to register your computer on the case network prior to being able to download the software (name it and such, different than using vpn).

I can't get to the actual software downloads either... It seems as though we're not actually students yet, and, as such, we can't download them yet.

It's all tied to our Case network IDs, so that's my best guess. We'll have access, in my opinion, as soon as they process us in the system as actual freshmen and not admitted students.
