I am a high school junior that is seeking a Software Engineering Major.
I have been doing some research, and most of the universities/colleges here in California, especially, Southern California don't offer a Software Engineering Major.

My question is:
If i pursue a Computer Science Major can i become a Software Engineer?

My GPA :3.6 WEIGHTED
SAT: 1770
Which university would be the perfect fit?

Please help me :c

Most people working in the technical side of the computer industry have computer science degrees.

At schools which offer both computer science and software engineering majors, the difference is that the latter includes more software engineering methods courses beyond the initial overview course commonly taken by both majors. It is likely that the schedule space is better used for additional computer science topics courses (operating systems, algorithms, databases, networks, security, etc.) that computer science majors take but software engineering majors take fewer of.

However, at some schools, the software engineering major is not as well known and thus less selective because fewer people apply to it. San Jose State is an example:

I want to be a Software Engineer
Which one is better , though ?
A computer science major prepares me to become a software engineer as well ?

Yes. And the extra computer science topics courses are likely more useful in industry software jobs than extra software engineering methods courses beyond the overview course.
