Sombrero Party Sparks Outrage

“A group of [Bowdoin] college students who wore miniature sombreros on their heads at a tequila-themed party will face official discipline, and the college is offering counseling to anyone “injured and affected” by the party, the Independent is reporting.”

This is silly. Administration needs to find something more productive to do than to police off campus theme parties.

Sadly, the administration’s actions and hypocrisy have moved Bowdoin to the bottom on the list for my D. I am of a different generation, and admittedly baffled by what I’d call 1st world problems. Most of my understanding of the issue is derived from this article:

Forgive me if you feel I am being insensitive, but please realize that as a member of the cultural group at the center of the conflict, I find the notion of wearing a small hat at a party not only harmless, but fun. The response, however, I find magnitudes more troubling. Bowdoin will survive - it’s an awesome school - but perhaps they need a few more mirrors in the administration buildings.
