AI image generators seem to produce very stereotypical images in some cases. For example, asking one to generate an image of “an Indian person” mostly resulted in images of old men with pagri turbans and tilak forehead marks, while “an American person” is usually a young White (often blonde) woman with a US flag in the background.

This is a well known issue in the Machine-learning community. Unfortunately, the way that some of the anti-DEI laws are written makes it very difficult to address this or even research it. It doesn’t help that many within the Machine Learning community itself refuse to admit that it’s an issue, despite pretty clear evidence of it being an issue.
