****, some of my information was stolen

Just got an email from McCombs saying they got my:

Name
UT-EID

Thankfully they didn't get my social security, but still it is terrible that some Asian hacker has some of my information. I also made sure to change my password just in case.

yea that happened to me too. i got an email today.
i guess i ought to change my pwd.

ps. your comment about the hacker being Asian is facetious.

Lol, it was reported last month that the hacker was from Asia. Whether or not he/she was actually of asian ethnicity I'm not sure of and I apoligize if you took it that way.

how do you change your UTEID password?

https://utdirect.utexas.edu/admissions/status_check.WBX

On the right it says: "Quick Password Change and Login."
Click there and it should be easy to follow after that.

your name and UTEID is not that big of a deal. I can get your name, find out where you live, how much taxes you pay on your house, etc. on the internet. Social Security # is the big one, and nobody I know has had their's taken. It would have been nice not to have this happen, but I'm not worrying about it. (I changed my password just to be safe though.)

I think this is the second hack/theft of data this year at McCombs.

im pretty sure they concluded the investigation into the hacking of the information from last month, and they were NOT attacked again.

I think you are correct, Kenneth J. It looks like this part of the notification process from the original data theft: http://www.mccombs.utexas.edu/datatheft/.
