I just have some general questions about Colgate. No one from my town has gone there in the last couple years so it's hard to get info. Is it well known in the academic world? Also, what's the student body like? Are people friendly, attractive, laid back? How are the classes? In general are they small, lecture style? Are people very competitive? Are the facilities, like the dining hall, gym, etc., nice? How is the English department in particular? How does Colgate compare to the other similar LAC's?

Any info would be great! Thanks.

In response to your first question, ABSOLUTELY!!!! I interned in a holocaust studies center over the summer and these academics recognized the Colgate name right away (no toothpaste jokes here). Gate students get in top grad and law schools.

In response to your other questions, scroll down to other threads in this forum and you'll have a pretty good idea of what Colgate's all about. I kid you not, anything you receive in the mail- brochures and picture books are true to their words. They just don't lie. We don't lie- we don't play nice just because the admissions say so. We're friendly and outgoing because we love Colgate for what it is. We love the small classes- no more than 35 in a lecture and there isn't much competition going around.

Honestly, Colgate's very comparable to other top LACs- top 15 by USNews.
