Hey guys I’m a very religious person but recently I’ve started thinking about death a little and now I’m scared, I like to comfort myself by thinking that our spirit will go on but I’m scared a tiny bit because what if it’s just a never ending sleep? Please help me, I’m just a tiny bit worried, nothing to worry about though.
If its a never-ending sleep, you will never realize you’re dead, so there is no point in worrying about it. At least, that’s what I tell myself.
Wrong website. You should go here: www.gotquestions.org
Thinking about death happens because we see it all of the time: plants, animals, people. Obsessing about it is not good.
Now think about life. Life is good!
If religion doesn’t help you reconcile with death, you should read on absurdism.
As someone who prefers not to consider higher powers, I wanna pass on a word of comfort:
There’s too much beauty in life to ruminate death without goal. If there is nothing in the end, you cannot afford wasting a moment. If your God does catch you safely from the end of life, only your joys from this world will pass on with you.
This is a tough question (and, as an earlier poster mentioned, probably not the right forum or even website to be asking this kind of thing), but I’ll still try to do what I can.
You say you’re worried that your spirit won’t live on. But even in the case that it doesn’t, it’s going to be okay because the good experiences you had in your life (and the good experiences of everyone who cares about you) aren’t going to stop existing. Like, they’re still part of the fabric of the universe and nothing can take that away.
