Rocket, what are some prose I can read?

This isn't necessarily going to help you, but maybe a parent will read this.

The idea is to read incessantly starting in about first grade (like an hour or two a day, every day) and keep that up until 8th grade. Read whatever you like, fiction or non-fiction, it makes NO DIFFERENCE.

After 8th grade, you don't have to read much if at all anymore, except stuff for school.

It seems that excellent reading comprehension, the kind that helps on the College Board tests, is acquired in elementary school.

So, parents, see that you toss out the tv, and get your kids to read more.

As to the OP's problem, well, you can certainly start a lifetime habit of recreational reading now which will have some effect on your reading comprehension in the future, as in reading college texts, etc. There are some tricks to improve in reading that I have read about on other posts in this website, so you can do a search and see what you can find. However, the best solution is early and lengthy reading as a kid.

Best wishes in attaining your goals.

great gatsby, grapes of wrath, catcher in the rye, a seperate peace, speak, cut, to kill a mockingbird for starts

Ok, thanks. I started the grapes of wrath freshman year but i got to like page 20 and returned it...it was booooooooooooooooooooring. :( I'll try some of those books anyways.

if you didn't like grapes, try east of eden..
same author-better story

Alright thanks rocket. I am gonna go check it out today.

Im taking the test this weekend so does anyone have any last minute tips on any of the sections, especially the reading? And good luck to everyone who is taking the test this weekend.

Don’t worry about it. Even a 34 on the ACT won’t assure you acceptance to schools like Rice or CMU. Probably not JHU or Duke either. GPA is more important.

I know a 34 won’t assure me but I have the gpa to back it up. I got about a 4.15 sophomore year so far. A 34 would make my chances better than a 26 so I was wanting advice :).
