I just discovered an old hard drive. I found a ton of pix and videos of my family from several years ago, and I am so glad I did.
I just took a trip down memory lane from about 15 years or so.
Looking back at these old vacation videos, there was a song that my kids had a lot of fun with when we lived in Europe. For any of you that went on vacation in Europe and stayed at any hotel or resort with an “animator,” I am sure you will remember “Veo Veo”:
It was ALL over Europe back then.
Do you have your own similar favorite songs for your kids from your vacations?
One song I can remember from a vacation was this one.
We went on a tour in India when our girls were young. This movie was played on one of our long drives and the tour guide explained what was going on in the movie as it went along because there were no subtitles. Another family with a young daughter was in our group and we sang Om Shanti Om for the rest of the trip. The video is from the end of the movie and had nothing to do with the plot, it was more like a reunion of all the major Bollywood stars. Catchy tune though.
Also, I remember having to continue the tradition of singing Danny Boy and The Star Spangled Banner at bedtime to my youngest daughter while on one trip. She insisted that I sing those two songs at bedtime for months and I can’t even sing.
The Wiggles! I loved the wiggles. H found the CD last weekend and we may have listened to it in the car. You can’t be in a bad mood after listening to the Wiggles.
Sorry the preview thing for the link doesn’t seem to work
I mean, specific to a vacation? Not really…but while driving ON vacation we would listen to cassette tapes or CD’s. Definitely Raffi. Sharon, Lois and Bram. Arthur CD’s. We would make a special trip to the library before vacation to get books AND music to listen to.
What are you asking? On vacation, the only time we listened to this music was while in the car. Or kids could listen with their Walkman and headphones while we were traveling.
When they were little, we listened to Raffi and Sharon, Lois & Bram in the car. I read the entire Narnia series to them in the car on vacation once they were old enough to appreciate it (H liked it, too). As they got older, they liked to listen to the same music we listened to.
We had a box of cassettes on the car seat. Kids could listen to whatever they wanted to listen to once they were old enough to do so…as they each had separate headphones, and vintage devices!
Funny story about Barney. When older S was born, I realized I couldn’t remember any kids songs. At Toys R Us, they had an animated Barney Doll that would sing if you pressed its foot. I spent a long time in front of that thing, relearning all my kids songs!
Fortunately, Barney was on the way out when mine were little
