March 29th is approaching!!! ... don't you think its time we got a RD Class of 2011 thread going? :)

oh me meme! I'm kidding, I'd say Dulce De leche if she had applied here, lol. :D

AHHHHH! It's too soon!!!!!
I remember ED cycle like 8 "OFFICIAL" decision threads got started but people kept having random freakout/discussion on them and so everyone just kept making new ones. And then finally there was an "OFFICIAL DECISIONS" thread and a "DISCUSSION ABOUT DECISIONS" thread, but even that didn't work.
So basically, we can make one now, but it's going to be all filled up (even if we say DON'T TALK ON THIS THREAD) by March 29th.

We need a cool little template though. And ACCEPTED to be in orange. Not that I know how to do any of that.

Since the input string filtering system on CC was changed during one of the update waves, I don't think that we can post "clean" templates on here anymore; i.e., we'd have to post templates with spaces in between the BBcode, and that means that posters would have to manually delete each space, which is a pain and if you don't do it, then you get stuff that looks like [* ] instead of •.

Not that I'm a stickler for presentation, but I might go get one of those temporary domains, and point it to one of my Web servers where I'll host a clean template that people can use.

Haha I love people that are technologically oriented and know how to do anything. I really understood absolutely nothing in the above post, but I appreciate such talent/knowledge.

Heh, sorry about that. In English: To make text fancy and colorful, some message board forums use special text markup called BBcode that looks like [b//]this is bold because of the surrounding "tags"[///b]. Well, when someone makes a template, they usually want to include this BBcode so that people who don't know it or don't want to type it out can quickly just copy and paste it and then fill in their stats and the outcome.

Well, to make a bullet in a list, you'd use the BBcode [//]. The problem is, if you just type it like that, it gets turned into a bullet in a list, which people cannot copy and paste to use in their own post. So to prevent the [//] from getting turned into a bullet, template makers post [ ], with a space in the middle of the tag. That way, people can copy and paste that, and then delete all the spaces in the tags when it comes time for them to post. Not only is it a bit tedious to delete each space, some people don't know that it has to be done, so they leave the tag as is (with the space), and as a result, the tag remains looking like [ ] instead of a nice bullet.

What I wanted to do was to upload a copy of the template that had space-free tags so that all people would need to do is visit my Web page, on which there would be a "clean" template that people would be able to simply copy and paste. That's it.

Also, helpful hint: a tech term that is good to know is "string" - a string refers to a string of characters whether it be a word, a sentence, or a paragraph.

It's way too early for an RD Thread!

Thanks whoamg. That was actually very clear-cut and informative and helpful.

I don't WANT it to be March 29. I don't want to know!!
I mean I do.
But...I don't.
Does anybody know what I'm talking about?

YES!
j07, I've been debating the same thing for a while now.
It's horrible. I want to find out. But the finality of decisions is something to dread. At least now I can still entertain some hope of a miracle.

On March 27 or 28, someone needs to start the RD decision thread. Someone prominent who's been around here for a while and is waiting for their decision. My vote...j07. Anyone else?

I'd vote pk or omz but I don't see them here. My vote goes to Mr./Ms. first-regular-who-receives-their-decision-and-posts-a-screenshot-of-it.

pk and omz were big for ED, but they haven't been on much for RD (and isn't OMZ going to Wellesley anyway?).

lol i agree with j07 ... i really don't want to find out my decision yet ... i need like another month of mental preparation!

Who ever starts one use this cool template, by yours truly. Simple copy paste.

Yay I'm glad people are voting for me!!! And I will use the "cool templates" that Abhi or whoamg provide since I'm pretty sure if I tried to do that I would cause a massive CC failure.

Let's reuse the ED decision template that whoamg provided http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/showthread.php?t=275227 (post #3)

Here, I made an account on one of those free websites, cleaned up all the ads and obtrusive content, and put two templates up.

http://www.freewebs.com/princetondecisions/

Whoever makes the RD thread, please either link to that or post a "clean" template in your post so that people will be able to easily format their posts

whoamg, can you make a waitlisted one as well?

Just substitute "Waitlisted" in where it says "Rejected"

Hey whomag, that's even better than mine Jealous
