Ok so i found out that i got into parsons via the admissions counselor that interviewed me
and on saturday ive got the portfolio interview for FIT

i wanna go for graphic design, become a art director for vogue =D

WHAT SCHOOL SHOULD I CHOOSE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! IM SO DEADLOCKED BETWEEN PARSONS AND FIT!!!!!!!!!!!! LOLLL

I asked a recent Parsons' undergrad photographer who is a practicing photographer with major designer ad campaign contracts already what he thought of Parsons' program comparatively to other NYC schools.
I will copy/paste what he said. I realize this is specific for photography, but I have a feeling it is the same for almost all majors there:

Hello Tyler [me],

I would recommend that you go to F.I.T. (if coming to NYC) or another lower priced technical school elsewhere. The thing is, you'll learn alot about Classical art and Design (at Parsons and other high priced schools) which are great but, through research, I've found that Other schools as well as Parsons don't teach a thing about the technical aspects of photography and business. Luckily I went to a very technical school in Florida (1st then transfered) that was great and cost litterally 1.5% of what school costs in NYC.

At Parsons, I was frequently frustrated with the lack of caring from professors and staff. They just didn't care about the students and The ****ed me off due to the fact that Myself and other students were paying so much (about42,000/year and that price is rising every year about $2-$3000). It's smart to go to a school that is more technical and teaches you about business.

You, I'm sure, want to make money from your photos and can learn the artistic side on your own for less money. In the end you're paying for the fact that you're getting an education in NYC with the Parsons name. To alot of people that is a great credential which people respect. You have to ask yourself if you wasnt to go into debt at least $90,000-$120,000 after 4 years for that schools' name. I also graduated in an economic recession where literally no one is hiring. Seriously no one. Photographers here, and nationwide, are asking for interns and free help on Craig'slist.com.

I'll be honest, graduating from Parsons has been benefical as far as their name goes but, I had to learn all I know about the technical and practical aspects of photography itself and business on my own. I hope this helps. Good luck."
