Just want to see where the sophomore are interning this summer.
D didn’t choose UC and had to hassle harder at Vandy, but she found and committed her internship last November for this summer. Just want to check back on “the opportunitiy cost”.

This is going to depend a lot on a variety of factors including major, individual skill, interests, etc. It’s very hard to do a direct comparison school-to-school. IME a lot of second years struggle to find industry internships simply because most employers don’t want to hire second years - personally, I went through three rounds of interviewing at a smallish tech company at Chicago only to be turned down because “we can only afford to hire juniors” (then why did you waste my time??? ugh). Generally the companies that can afford to hire second years can also afford to be extremely picky about who they hire, and students that don’t want to work for those companies or can’t get hired are going to have to look pretty hard for programs that will take them.
Second years do get Metcalfs internships often, though, where they are paid by a small stipend university rather than a salary by their employer.
