Hi,

I have heard of programs that guarantee you a seat in med school straight out of High School, but I know my grades are not the best for that.

I was wondering what universities out there had a Sophomore matriculation program where if we get a stellar GPA and have other requirements, we can also get a seat in med school? Will these universities base their decisions on the high school performance?

This is my list of potential colleges for me (I will cut it down though):

University of Colorado
Washington State University
Whitman College
Oregon State University
Western Washington University
Virginia Commonwealth University
University of Oregon
University of Arizona
University of Washington
Drexel University
University of the Sciences in Philadelphia
Colorado State University
Arizona State University
Loyola University-Chicago
University of Michigan-Ann Arbor
Michigan State University
University of California-San Diego
Vanderbilt University
Gonzaga University

Thanks a lot for your responses.

Never heard of any such program.

Chicago has one. It's offered to only a very few undergrads.

My assumption is that they would have to include high school work, as one and a half years of undergraduate work are entirely too little to use as an evaluative mechanism.

ive heard that some of the SUNY schools in new york have this program. keep in mind that many of these programs may have state residency requirements or may require you to attend that university. Anyways, as BDM said, the competition is probably stiff. good luck

Oh...Alright thanks for the info.

Does anyone else know of any more universities that offer this?

-University of Rochester (very top notch med school as well btw)
-Tufts to Tufts Med
-Boston College to Tufts Med
-Brandeis to Tufts Med
-Georgetown (not completely positive but 95% sure)
-Rutgers
-TCNJ or some other new jersey school
-Miami (not completely positive but 85% sure)
-Boston University (not completely positive but 85% sure)

Thats all I can think of off the top of my head. Anyone wanna confirm the ones I'm not completely sure about?

Hope that helped SHS_Spartan.

-Holy Cross to Tufts

Oh wow, thanks a lot california_love8.

That really did help.

SUNY Upstate also has a program, it is not connected with any college though. Basically when you are in your sophmore year and have a good GPA standing, you apply and if you are accepted you just need to maintain a good GPA and you will be exempt from the MCAT and you will also have a secure spot in their Med. school once you graduate with a Bachelors.
