Hello,
I'm a sophomore in high school who wants to go to a really good university in the states...
a really good university because
1)i'm an international student, so even if i got in to ok universities, it would be too expensive
2)we're not rich; i guess we're less than average, since our income is less than $50,000 a year.

i go to an international school outside the states,
- i just took the SAT in OCT 2012, and i got 2310. (cr:760 m:780 w:770)
- i'm very concentrated on maths and science, much more than other subjects
(i'm taking AP Calc AB this (sophomore) year)
- my gpa is solid: 4.2 weighted
- i do soccer club, some voluntary works.
- (Extra info: i plan to take the SAT1 once more, and a few SAT Subject Tests, and a few APs. i plan to finish all of calculus courses in 11th grade, and take a deeper branch of maths in my senior year.)

So it all gets down to, WHAT ELSE SHOULD I DO TO GET INTO A GOOD UNIVERSITY?
- i know it's not all about scores; it doesnt take a genius to figure that out.

You’re building a solid resume–concentrate on continuing what you’ve begun and do all you can to distinguish yourself (for example, run for office in any organizations you join), take advantage of any summer programs available (whether academic or service oriented), etc. You want to show that you are taking advantage of every opportunity available to you.

thank you, i do need to do more service things and clubs… i live in an ex-soviet country,
so it’s hard to join any local clubs here :(

Great start! Like previously stated, work on Extracurriculars and try to get a leadership position if you can. Do that, write good essays, and you will be competitive in lots of places!

No need to retake SAT. It’s good enough, and scoring higher won’t increase your chances of admission.

Look at Idealist website for volunteer opportunities all over the world. If your school and country just don’t have any, see if there’s something you can start or do independently. You won’t be expected to do something impossible for your situation, but making an effort will be appreciated.
