Sophomore wanting advice

Hi, I’m new to this. I’m a rising sophomore and I’m beginning to I guess show interest is some colleges. I’ll start off by saying this year I had a 3.2 GPA. After moving to a new place this year it was hard for me to adjust and I had to deal with a couple of bad experiences at school. I’m normally a 4.0 student but this year I sadly wasn’t. That being said, I’ll give some “stats”

3.2GPA
(Taking algebra 2 and Spanish 2 online right now so I can be head next year)

Spanish 3 Honors
A.P. Computer Science
Chemistry Honors
English (no honors offered)

World history( no honors/ap offered)
Social physiology/ TEacher assistant (1/2 sem)

Extra Curriculars:
Jack and Jill( Black youth group outside of school, officer)

Service learning club (officer)
Business and finance club( officer)
Basketball (will play for all four years
Track( starting next year, will play for three years)

Job experience-
15 hrs paid as a basketball score clock runner
Will do something this summer

Community service:
40 hrs

Urm, I also live in CA if it helps

That being said, I’m dedicated to that 4.0. It’s normally something I can do, just this year was a little fought for me. I guess ending high school my gpa will be a 3.77 if I consistently get a 4.0 for the next three years. My high school is very competitive as well.

I would like to know if I’m on a good track I guess. I understand it’s premature, but I would just like to be prepared for my chance. Thanks in advance.

Anybody?

Because USC is holistic in nature, no one on this forum can give you a concrete answer and instead, us ol’ timers refer students looking for “chances” to this thread linked below. That thread is as relevant today as it was when madbean started it. Just to give you some feedback—obviously your gpa is low fro a school with an 18% admission rate, and you haven’t taken tests yet. High school years tend to get harder not easier, particularly junior year, so to go from a 3.2 to a 4.0 the next three years seems pretty extreme. Just do your best. It is harder to chance someone on “their plans” versus actual results. The best advice is to not have a dream school, but have several that you could see yourself being happy at. USC is so selective, there are amazing 4.6 students with high scores and super ECs that don’t get in because of the holistic approach and it being so competitive, so have backup plans. Good luck!
