Sororities

From what I can see, there are 6 sororities on campus.

My D is not a 'dress up' type of girl, not into pretty dresses, barely wears makeup, is most often in shorts/tshirt.

Can someone give me a re-cap of each Sorority house, what they are like, what they stand for. Also, would one house be more liberal or philanthropic than another? Is one house more geared towards independants that another?

Because 80% of the campus is Greek, it is easy to find a place that you feel comfortable. Rush isn’t til Winter Term, so your daughter will get plenty of chances to meet and interact with the women in different sororities. Additionally, because the houses are so large, there are all sort of different girls in each of them. There are stereotypes for each house, but they’re not necessarily true. I’m sure your daughter will hear these, but I would encourage her to meet the women and form her own opinions rather than listening to what other people (primarily guys) have to say.

Each sorority has something to offer (and each has its weakenesses of course), and all are strong nationally with many great members.

And no house is “geared toward independents”… that sort of defeats the purpose. However, I will say that all of the houses have girls in them that probably would not have rushed at any other school, if that’s what you mean.
