Are sorority and/or frat houses on campus or off? Do most vandy students who live off campus live north of west end ave or south in hillsboro village?

Houses adjoin the campus, but members do not live in them (officers might?).

Undergrads are supposed to live on campus all 4 years. There are always a few off-campus passes annually (my D got one senior year). I believe there were more given out this coming year due to construction or renovation … but I assume things will be back to the usual 4-year requirement once that is done (not sure when).

D actually found that many places wouldn’t rent to undergrads. I believe the housing office is working with area landlords for off-campus housing while students have to be off-campus during the construction. She rented a condo across the street from campus, behind the Commons. It was a great location.

The houses are on campus, but only the officers live there. All students are required to live on campus all four years, but the students who manage to avoid this requirement live in a variety of places all around the campus. Because of the demolition of one of the sophomore dorms this year, some students will have to live off campus over the next two years. After that, everyone should be back on campus, though. All freshman live on campus in the Commons.

Thanks for the advice!

One more question…Where do most upperclassmen hangout (bars/eat), on west end ave, downtown Nashville, 12ave south. Just trying to get a feel for where the best hang outs are for people my age?
