sorry..another chance thread. please??

before I blow up

please....for vandy

ACT: 31, 11 writing
SAT: 1990
SAT II: 800 Math IIC, 670 USH
gpa: 5.47/5.0 weighted
class rank: 17/457 suburban, "competitive" high school
essays: good
recs: amazing
10 APs by graduation

i think u have good chances
have u applied already?
it would be great if u can retake ACT and get above 32 (u are so close!)
also, can u retake or take the subject test in which u got 670

even with the current stats u have, i think u will make a very strong candidate

with a higher sat i think you would be competitive for a higher school

Good candidate. Retaking the SAT II History?

How can you have a GPA like this?

"gpa: 5.47/5.0 weighted"

Do you mean that your weighted is 5.47 and that your unweighted is 4.0? Because I don't see how that makes sense. feels lost

sorry for the confusion.

I have applied already. I'm a second semester senior. Not going to retake SATII History because I got a 5 on the AP test (will that help?).

as for the ACT, I am hopeless. I have retaken it two other times and I've always been suckish at standarized tests. Got a 25 in science but 30s in everything else.

decoding the gpa...my school's gpa is out of 5.0 instead of 4.0 (5.0 = A, 4.0 =B, 3.0 = C, etc..) we also "weight," meaning if you take all honors classes all 4 years and get straight As, you can get a 6.0.

Wow, that's odd.. It's usually the four-point system, so I was little taken aback. Most people would look at your GPA and get freaked out because it seems so unworldly, but now it makes more sense.

BTW, I have VERY similar stats as you. (1990 SAT, that's what I got on my practice, I got a 29 on my ACT, similar ranks, etc.) All these people saying you have a good chance at Vanderbilt makes me think that I should consider it as well. ponders

alinhappyland: it really doesn't matter how your school does GPA. The universities will do it differently, and when asking for chances on here, you should figure out your GPA using the system that we all know (the one that most universities use). Since you're a noob, I won't blame you.

Unweighted: out of 4; A=4, B=3, C=2, D=1, F=0
Weighted: out of 5; A=5, B=4, C=2, D=0, F=0; weight only honors, AP, and pre-AP (or other advanced classes)

murky: I don't think you'd like Vandy very much. =p
