Hey all!

I'm new to this but I was wondering if you could shed some light on a current predicament that I am having. I am going to become a Junior in the fall at the University of Michigan and I am trying to weigh the chance that I have with getting into ANY medical school.

I have a 3.2 GPA with probably a 3.1 Science GPA (haven't calculated it but it's probably between a 3.1 and a 3.2). This stat will obviously what will hold me back. I plan to Major in International studies ( have only taken once course so my GPA should rise with more classes taken) and minor in Bio (so I have more sciences to take). Any recommendations on how to approach raising my GPA or how to structure my class schedule?

I think I have an ok list of ec but any input as to what else I can do will be greatly appreciated. I'm going to be a Resident Advisor in the Fall and I will also be in a leadership position for an on campus program dealing with health on campus. I also have done two years of research in the U of M hospital and have done a year of work in a basic laboratory. I have been on Alternative Spring Break, a member of Kgrams, part of the University of Michigan Mentorship program, and was a Peer Adviser in the Health Science Scholars Program (a learning living community orientated towards pre-health freshmen).

I plan to volunteer senior year for the year at U-M hospital or a nearby hospital.

I plan to do one of two plans. I would either study abroad next summer and take a gap year to do some more research or something meaning that I would need to take my MCAT at the end of my senior year or still have the gap year but do something else next summer and study abroad for the year. With the latter plan I am aware that I will have trouble with interviews (if I have any) so I still need to work out the kinks. Maybe half and half. Any other suggestions as to how to take on these last two years and my gap year would be greatly appreciated.

Feel free to answer one, all, or none of these questions.

Thank you.
