ok, so this is one of the few R&C classes left. Its past grade distributions are really nice.. mostly A's.. but the prof (Tiwon) didnt get very good ratings, and i dont know anything about the GSI's (one's name is "Cao")... I was wondering if anyone knew anything about this class and would or would not recommend it. Someone pleaaaase? thanks :)

Is it South & Southeast Asian or is it just South Asian?

If it is the former, it is about Southeast Asia.
If it is the latter, it is about South Asia.

its south and south east asian studies.. i know what its about.. im just wonering if theres a good reason that class still has so much room left and is an R&C class.. is it not good? was the teacher really that terrible? were the grade distributions on campusbuddy not right? etc.. lol im just hoping someone has some info! :)

I took the class with Tiwon last year. She is a nice professor, but she lectures non-stop.

was the class interesting? Was it a lot of work? Would it be easy for someone who.. doesnt particularly excel at humanities and reading/writing courses?

I took this class last spring & I found it to be quite a joke. The grade was very subjective, as it seems as though your grade was almost random. It was not that you wouldn't get at least a B, but I have no idea how papers were graded and such. There were no real assignments except for the papers. Lectures are very boring, especially because she goes on random tangents. Nothing of what she says is really relevant for what you write about or talk about in discussions. For 80 minutes, almost every lecture was just sitting there and trying to stay awake to listen to her blabber about whatever she felt like talking about.

However I believe a lot of how the class was last year was because of the GSI as well. Last semester, the GSI was Sorensen and he was just as random/odd/crazy/etc as Tiwon and the whole class was a waste of time but took care of R&C B.

do you think i should just wait til another semester to fulfill the R&B then? i'm only a freshmen..

er.. R&C B*
