My D was invited to apply, but decided not to because her GPA is WAY below the average range listed by Honors college. She figured there was no way she would get in. Goes to an OOS school without APs. ACT was okay and likely what flagged the invitation.
Applied with test score - 1310
My son is OOS and applied with ACT scores. He submitted the Honors app last week.
Son is OOS, submitted ACT scores, but did not end up submitting the Honors app. The program looked really good, but he didnât have time to do the essays in a way that he thought would get him in. Have to give USC credit though, they were texting him and emailing him (and me) about applying, and it probably increased his interest
Received Honors email and applied with ACT test scores. ACT was below the range for Honors but still strong so went ahead and applied. Her GPA and APs and other items were all strong. She did struggle with one of the essays - she ended up answering very authentically, but feels it missed what they were looking for.
Is there a correlation between scholarship and honors college admission? In other words, if your student receives a scholarship, is he/she likely to also get into honors college or are they mutually exclusive?
My daughter received a scholarship but did not hear anything from honors on the first round. We are waiting until February to see if she gets accepted. So I would say no, at this point.
For those who were admitted to HC in December, have you received anything in the snail mail?
Nothing specific to the honors college. Just general UofSC mailing.
My daughter was accepted to HC in December but hasnât received anything in the mail specific either. She just received the general USC mailing when she was accepted EA in November.
SCHC mailing came today!
Ours did too
Has anyone here received an email about Top Scholars?
Couple of ppl posted that they got the invitation on Wednesday
I wish I knew if they let you know either way if you donât get Top Scholars.
They do let you know sometime in February I guess
Bummer. I thought for sure some in here would get invitations.
What I heard from admission office is not all results are released yet. They do it in waves
I believe they are released in waves and also as people decline they move to the next. I put no stock in what admissions says, they told me in late December honors decisions were a hard release date of mid feb and then 3 hours later my daughter got hers. And this week they told me top scholars werenât going out yet and that evening someone posted that they got their invite.
I seriously donât understand why admission is so secretive in telling when the results come out and how many waves or any tentative dates
