south carolina vs indiana..which to pick?!?!

The two schools I narrowed my choices down to is Indiana U and U of South Carolina but I am unsure of which to pick. I love Indiana because of the nice campus, great research college since I plan to major in biology, and a nice college town. The only reason I like South Carolina better is it's in the South which is the region I most want to go to college in, but I want more of a college town atmosphere and less urban environment. This makes me believe that if I did attend, I would probably want to try to transfer to a college like Clemson which i would love to go to, but found too late and can't apply. Also Indiana will cost 12K a year while Carolina 8K, but I'm not too worried of the costs. So basically my question is if anyone has any insight or advice, I'm really in a dilemma here.

Indiana over USC. It’s a better overall school and the Bloomington campus and town are wonderful. I think an additional debt of $16,000.00 for four years of college is reasonable.

I’d go to Indiana. SC is a big party school from what I can tell…but I know very little about either school. :frowning: Sorry!

Indiana over USC, although I love the south. Indiana has a better reputation in more areas and is a great college town, although USC students are very happy, too.

No worries stressed23, it’s all good. Also the princetonreview ranks Indiana as 14th party school in the nation, so apparently it’s a party school too. What about Indiana vs Clemson(if I were to transfer there)?

Indiana 10 char

*Also Indiana will cost 12K a year while Carolina 8K, but I’m not too worried of the costs. *

Why would both be so cheap for you? Did you get big merit scholarships for both? If so, keep in mind that you won’t get big scholarships to Clemson as a transfer student.

What is your home state?

Im from Mass, the reason it’s cheap is because my dad has the gi bill and transferred it to me. Part of me wants to go south since I love it there, but i dont know if its worth trying to transfer if I really do end up unhappy at USC.

Would you have a greater chance of wanting to transfer at USC than at IU?

^Definetly, the only thing I don’t like about Indiana is it’s not in the Southeast. I guess I could always transfer from IU to down south if I still felt the desire to, but that doesn’t sound very convenient.

@bigmike7104 - my decision is also between South Carolina and Indiana. Indiana is 5K a year more ( I got scholarship to both). Kelley direct admit and Chinese flagship program at Indiana and loved the campus - Direct Admit to Darla Moore at USC and weather is great (and campus as well). Not many days to decide!!

Pmcnyc - by direct admit to darla Moore do you mean general business or international business? USC has #1 IB program. Know couple of kids that have had good experiences in program. In Honor college? Great opportunities. Check out USC forum to se what other threads have said about these programs

@bigmike7104 - Was curious what you decided. I am headed to Indiana. So glad to have decision done and look forward to getting to Bloomington.

Thanks to all for your input!
