So I’ve been doing a little research on sou, and I found out that they have this program called the acc bacc, where you can graduate in 3 years. I’m from a wue state so tuition is comparable to that of a state school. Also I like the idea of going to a smaller college. If it matters I’ve got a 3.98 and 1770 sat. Does anyone know more about this school? Do students actually graduate in three years? I don’t really care how it’s ranked, as long as I’ve got good professors and access to classes. If you’ve gone to this school or know more about it than I do, would you recommend it?
Thanks!
So I went to SOU (SOSC at the time) in the late eighties/early nineties. I got a degree in Business and after working a number of years in non-profit management (including the Alumni Director of SOU), I now work as an administrator in the medical field. My husband also graduated from SOU with a degree in Mathematics and a masters in Education. He has been a high school math and computer science teacher for almost 25 years. We would have loved our daughter, who is graduating this year, to apply but she is interested in engineering, which SOU does not have.
I don’t know what percentage graduate from the three-year program on time, but I’m sure admissions could give you the stats. Here are some general thoughts, 1) the town is beautiful with plenty to do, 2) the professors are generally good because it is an awesome place to live which helps with faculty recruitment, 3) because it is small school and your stats put you in a higher level than most students, you will get as much support as you seek out, 4) the school is best if you have a liberal or outdoorsy or artistic bent - perfect if you are all three!
Overall, I’d say SOU won’t hold you back from anything you want to become. For me, it was the variety. I was in plays, did an internship in China, was a res life assistant, and so much more outside a narrow box of my major. I am still close to lots of friends I made there. They are teachers, lawyers, accountants, nurses, business owners, social workers, park rangers, computer programmers, and artists. And they all have positive memories of SOU.

Thanks so much!
