Spacing

Does the University of Chicago suggest we send in our essays with any kind of spacing (single, double)?

they don't say anything. they don't have restrictions. they'd just prefer 2 pages. but i mailed them sometime ago and they said it's ok to get a bit creative and be free with formatting etc.

Since there should be no corrections by the reader to your perfect essay, double spacing would seem less than classy, no?

Kidding. They honestly do not care, but in general I think single spacing things looks a lot better for any type of formal correspondence.

hmmm. . . I figured double would be easier on the eyes in general.

All of my essays were single-spaced, with a blank line between paragraphs. I also offset some poetry in my third essay. I really don't think they'll mind; just make sure your essay is readable in the PDF preview.
