I was just wondering if a current student could give me some advice on which Spanish class to take, I took AP in my senior year and got a 5 on the exam, so I was looking at SPAN 301 Grammar Review but I wasn't sure if that's the right choice.

That’s what the department used to recommend–and it’s certainly a very good, solid review
–but now those who have scored a 5 on the AP exam will not get credit for SPAN 3010. Instead, AP 5s should sign up for 4010, or for any other 3000 or 4000 level class you prefer except for SPAN 3300, which is also inappopriate for those who’ve done well on Spanish AP.

Thanks for the response, I originally wanted to sign up for a survey of spanish lit at orientation, but no one asked for my placement test/AP scores as the class required permission to enroll. I don’t see a SPAN 4010 as an available class though, so should i stick with perhaps the grammar review or 3020: Composition?

Most people take the Composition course right after 3010, so that would be a good choice for you! 4010 is not offered every semester. Gustavo Pellon’s Latin American Lit II class would also be excellent.
