i took the practice us history test and found errors....sparknotes says that washington advocated rise of political parties, something he clearly warned against in his farewell address. also, sparknotes says slave owners discouraged marriage between slaves...this is false because they encouraged marriage since it would give slaves less reason to escape if they have a family and also marriage would increase population, thus adding to the owner's assets.

have u guys found sparknotes to be sometimes false also?

perpetual, I remember those two questions clearly and they gave me the correct answers... (what you explained)... Maybe Sparknotes messed up its database or something.

Yup sparknotes has a lot of errors. They said that Ida Tarbell was not a muchraker and didn't expose the faults of John D. Rockefeller's Oil Company... which she did. So, yea it has some errors.

I agree with charlie. I also clearly remember those questions and it gave me the right answers. I'm also pretty sure both of those questions were EXCEPT questions, which could have confused you (i.e. the Washington answer would have been the right choice because it was not true).

perpetual, I just took one of the sparknotes practice tests, and it had both of those questions on it, and gave me the wrong answers too. I was confused by it too.

I think something is up with sparknotes. I've been taking their tests all week and haven't had any problems, but i just finished taking the 6th practice test for US History and the thing went haywire and marked all the answers wrong, although on the side and in the explanation boxes underneath it said most of the answers were correct. It also won't let me look at my in depth analysis. I think the system might have just recently got screwed up, but I emailed customer service to see what's up. Imagine...getting a 0!

I found the tests to be really helpful actually, at least up until this one. The only thing I noticed is that on this particular test, all the questions were repeats from previous tests......that makes me not feel good about getting a high score.

I tried to do all of them, but the database died after the fifth one, and the last three were just complete repeats, which sucked because I was stupid and actually dished out 14.50 for them. -.-

Anyway, there are errors, but overall, I think they were a little harder than the actual test. DEFINITELY more details. I averaged 750 on the practice tests and got 770 on the real thing. Not that good, but eh...I'll take it. =]

Haha, I totally would have, too, if I were into that sort of thing. xP

I definitely fail at effective use of web resources. This is probably why I continually find myself going broke. (Yes, I actually purchase my music, just in case you were wondering.)
