Hi, I am an international student which makes me unable to have a tour at Williams College. Can you tell me what unique things about this school, for example like traditions or crazy things like yelling before final exams, etc. Thanks a lot.
This old thread provides a pretty good summary: http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/williams-college/896033-what-makes-williams-special.html
To me, the unique / special / quirky things that most stand out are:
(1) Tutorials, (2) Mountain Day, (3) End-of-semester trivia, (4) The entry system, and (5) Winter Study. Honorable mention for the purple cow mascot, the Oxford study abroad program, watch-dropping at Commencement, the Chapin Rare Books Library, and the huge array of interesting campus public art. There are plenty of others, many of which are described on that thread.
I’ll add WALLS, which is amazing and I wish it was around back in my day.
"It would be no small advantage if every college were thus located at the base of a mountain.” — Henry David Thoreau, writing of Williams in 1844.
