Specific Schools w/in Colleges? I.e. business school

<p>I am so confused about this process.</p>

<p>So there's a university, and the university, let's use Duke for an example, has Trinity College of A&S and Pratt Engineering.</p>

<p>When you apply to Duke, do you gain admission to Duke university, or do you gain admission to Trinity?</p>

<p>I.e. if you get rejected from one school due to demand, are you rejected from the entire uni? Can you go to another school?</p>

<p>Also can you take three classes from Trinity and one from Pratt if you're techincially "enrolled" in Trinity?</p>

<p>You apply to a specific school. <a href=“Apply - Duke Undergraduate Admissions”>http://admissions.duke.edu/application/instructions&lt;/a&gt; As far as I know you cannot apply to another school within the U as a backup. At most colleges you can take classes from more than one school but you should contact each college to verify.</p>
