Speculations for a Sophmore please?

<p>My daughter is a Sophmore this year and LOVES JMU! It's by far her 1st choice school. (She's already visited the campus 3 times!) I'd love to know what she needs as far as an SAT / ACT score next year in order to be admitted. And any other words of wisdom / advice would be most appreciated!</p>

<p>She's in-state (we live near Fredericksburg) and has been homeschooled since Kindergarten.</p>

<p>Well, you can look up the published average SAT scores. My son says that most of the kids from VA (he is a freshman there and he is OOS), had a 3.7-3.8 gpa and in the 1200 range for the SATs (not including the writing section). I think that their published average gpa is 3.6. Good luck to your daughter. Sorry, but I don't have any words of wisdom about admissions. They do list in order of importance how they evaluate a candidate, and this info is on the JMU website.</p>

<p>Anything can change over the course of 2 years so just keep up your grades. It seems that your daughter isn't strong in math so I would suggest maybe not taking calculus because it is a challenging class, even when I'm strong in math. You don't have to listen to my advice but I've seen some people far fall in that class. Maybe you should take AP stats. And for the languages I would try to strengthen just one language and take another challenging course because there is no AP or IB classes on your future plan.</p>
