How important is speech and debate for applying to MIT? I know that speech and debate is very good on apps for Harvard, but how about MIT? I've never really had a passion for speech and debate, so i'm probably screwing myself over by not taking it. Any Advice?

Well, I took Speech and Debate, and I got in. But correlation does not imply causation. I loved doing it, though - it was fun.
However, and I can't stress this enough, if you don't have a passion for Speech and Debate, don't take it! MIT wants to see that you're pursuing things that you love doing, and taking something just because you think it will help on your college app won't help you, and may actually hurt you - the admissions officers can see right through that. Conversely, nobody expects you to have a certain extracurricular activity, so you aren't screwing yourself over.
Take something you enjoy doing and have fun with it.

oh ok, I see. Thanks!
