Hello everyone. I am a sophomore in high school (male) who wishes to pursue musical theatre in college. I would really like to get some more notes in my upper register. So I typed in "how to sing higher" on google and came up with a buch of sites on speech level singing. Now I don't know whether this method is some miracle thing or not, but it sounds too good to be true. But I really do want to be able to sing higher, so I am considering trying it out (but I don't really want to pay large sums of money if I don't know if it will work or not). Has anyone else had expirience/feedback on this method. Any comments would be appreciated. Thanks

I don’t have any direct experience with the techniques taught, but I want to caution you and everyone to NEVER try to learn singing from any online or CD or DVD source. I know you’re not suggesting this, but there are products available that claim you can “teach yourself” to sing. You can’t - you need an expert teacher to be an outside ear and eye and to help you navigate the parts of singing that don’t come naturally to you with safe and healthy technique. Anyone who claims otherwise is trying to take your money without looking out for your well-being.
