So ive never really played lacrosse and im thinking about playing for my high school. I know the objective of the game, but I am nlt very familiar with the rules and other stuff. However, I’ve been playing soccer and my coaches have said that I should play lacrosse because it is similar to soccer. I have much to learnand tryouts are in January. Are there any pointers or tips that will be useful. Also one more question, is it easy to be recruited for lacrosse or soccer?
that depends on your school. We can’t tell how easy it is because there is competition, your effort and hardwork compared to others.
Is there anyway I can be recruited as a first time player? Has it been done?
If you mean recruited to play in college for lacrosse or soccer: it’s hard.
If you mean recruited for a D3 college and get a boost for admissions while your family income allows you to get financial aid, it’s hard but doable.
If you mean getting a half tuition scholarship or more, it’s pretty much reserved for all-state/superstars.
Good colleges where you can play lacrosse include Tufts, Amherst, Middlebury, Bates, Colby, Williams as well as St Mary’s of Maryland, Gettysburg, Ohio Wesleyan, RIT, Sewanee…
You want to get recruited, don’t do lacrosse. Take up rowing.
Overall, your odds of getting a scholarship are MUCH higher if you focus on test prep than if you focus on athletics.
@ThankYouforHelp rowing? Like a boat?
Rowing, like a scull.
