My daughter was selected for a varsity team, but hardly ever played or even dressed out for games. In her mind, she ended up being pretty much the campus "joke." Would have been better off on a JV team. Is it better to ask to move to JV next year, or stay at varsity and hope for better luck next year? By the way, she pretty much selected this school for this sports opportunity. Such is life... Any suggestions?

She probably would have played much more on JV, but since its too late for this year here are my two cents -stick with varsity for the following reasons - and assuming she is a freshman, her first year at this school, and there were no other students from her year that made V without first being on JV that got more play -
- colleges are impressed by continuity and the fact that she made V her first year at school and as freshman
- next year the seniors are gone and she is moving up the totem pole, hopefully they will take more newbies who will be warming the bench (my daughter sat out the entire freshman year being on V, after being a star player and team captain the year before, its common)
- Hopefully when she is a senior she will have been the longest staying player on the team and have a better shot at being captain - again colleges love it
PS If you go to the school for any more games/end of year activities, touch base with the coach and “feel out the situation”
