Do sports really matter for college. I HATE the sport I'm playing and I have to play it until college. My mom keeps saying that I won't get into college or NHS if I don't do a sport. I am already doing Special Olympics Help, Stage Crew for Plays, Science Olympiad, energy saving club, Spanish club, DECA, FBLA, and FCCLA. What do you think?

Playing a sport will defiantly help. What sport is it?

Don’t do something you hate. Yeah a sport will help but you have plenty of other activities that more than make up for the lack of a sport. If you don’t enjoy it, don’t waste your time. Just don’t quit in the middle of the season and use the newfound time to do something useful.

Your mom is mistaken.

^ Agreed. The only schools I know of that require a sport are the service academies.

Playing a sport in hs only helps if you apply as a recruited athlete, otherwise it’s just like any other extracurricular activity. Do what you love!

Since when does NHS require a sport??? lol

Except for maybe service academies, I don’t think there is ONE college that requires sports participation. That would be ridiculous.

Neither NHS nor a sport is required to get into college…

There are a lot of good reasons to play a sport. But neither college nor NHS is one of them.
