Spring admission questions

I am an international student who received admission to USC for the Spring 2020 semester as a Political Economy major. I have a few queries regarding the spring admission:-

  1. Since I plan on doing a PHD in Economics in the future, after careful consideration and deliberation I have changed my mind and decided to major in the Economics/Mathematics joint major. Hence, I would like to know whether it is possible to change my major right now?

  2. May I please know whether I would have all modules/classes available during the spring term?

  3. How are summer internships and job placements managed for students enrolling in the spring semester?

  4. I have completed the IB Diploma and received scores of 7, 6 and 5 in my Higher Level subjects. Please kindly suggest how will this help me regarding the transfer of credits?

There is a big thread on spring admits, you may get some answers there.

But to your specifics, if you google “usc schedule of classes spring 2019” you can see all the classes that are offered this spring, and then you can change to see what is offered next fall.

For your IB diploma, you are awarded 6 units of credit per HL class with a final score of 5, 6, or 7. I found it interesting that you get 6 credits for IB HL vs. 4 for AP.

Thank you very much for your detailed reply. So if I get 18 units of credit for my 3 HL subjects, how long will it take me to complete my degree?

@futurestudent66 Honestly, with 18 units, it will likely still take you 4 years. You’d have to see for what the major requires and all the general education credits. You need 128 credits, and have to satisfy your major requirements and the GEs.
