no offense to winterset or anything but i think a small part of my rejection was applying for FA, it seems that sps looks for a lot of endowment. i also don’t play a sport which could have played a factor

SPS does not “save” spots for 11th grade, so the only openings are from attrition (at least that is what they told us 2 application seasons ago).
Most other schools build in that they will add x-number of 11th graders and even seniors to make up their classes…SPS tries to be “full” by 10th.

No offense taken Candidate123. I understand. It is a tough year and today is a difficult day for many many people and a great one for just a few. FA is up this year, but I suspect applicant’s needs are up even more. This economy combined with cuts in many schools offerings and FA makes it especially difficult. I sincerely wish everyone could be admitted, and I hope everyone gets admitted to at least one of these phenomenal schools.

candidate123-don’t assume FA, lack of sports etc was the reason for your non-selection. SPS has very generous FA, that was increased this year. They can not accept all students, full pay and students requesting FA are not admitted. Based on the numbers it looks like this year was an especially difficult year for admissions. I know you are disappointed, but with so many qualified applicants it was an uncertain year for everyone. I hope you have other options and will receive good news today.

Ditto Winterset.

I was so depressed when I posted this thread. It really made me convinced I’d get in nowhere and made for a fun school day! But at the end of the day I’m glad I wasn’t accepted (apart from ego and bragging right lol) because I wouldn’'t have gone over Groton anyway, so my spot went to someone who really really wanted it.
