I'm thinking about possibly buying a Macbook Air in a few weeks for college & would like to protect my investment. I understand that Applecare is great but as I will be using & commuting with my laptop on a daily basis, I'd like more protection than Apple covers, specifically Accident protection & at least 3 years of protection. Has anybody here ever bought a warranty from SquareTrade, would you recommend it & if not what other options are there?

Thanks in advance for any info.

They’re alright. I have a few friends who have had no issues, but one friend (smart guy) put ST on his Xbox… and then proceeded to go through 6 due to RRODs. I think he sent it in each time and they repaired it for the first 5 times, then probably got annoyed and sent him a new one for the sixth.

I feel like the Air is more durable than it looks. I have a leather sleeve on mine, and will be probably be taking it around on campus once classes start, but I feel like if you’re careful, AC+ and an AMEX warranty should be good enough. That’s 4 years of coverage right there.

Thanks for your input & I do plan on being careful but it just takes one rare clumsy accident & you’ve got yourself a paperweight. So I kind of just want that peace of mind, that I’m covered if anything should happen.
