SSAT Technical Issues

Any kids/families have issues yesterday or last week with the SSAT @ Home Exam? Running the System Check and enabling the secure browser in time was a challenge for us, we kept getting errors until the last minute.

Me too, but I can’t seem to find the problem. For ours, they require a certain bandwith, but we have a higher bandwith which they don’t accept for some reason.

My son tried to take the SSAT @Home yesterday. Despite a successful technical test the day before, the SSAT system (or whatever) froze midway through the identity check or something. They were working on getting it resolved, but it was taking so long (getting on 90 minutes) that I just told the SSAT technical person to forget it, and we cancelled the test. I’m going to call tomorrow to see about my son’s taking it potentially in person at the testing center, although as of right now only one of his potential schools even requires it for applicants to the 21-22 school year.

It sounds like it’s a problem with your computer. You can request a computer from SSAT.

Luckily, DD just finished her SSAT at home. No issues except her room was so cold, she froze. ? We are so glad that’s over!!!

@buuzn03 Ditto, so happy it’s over. Received the results, no need to repeat this fall so enjoyed our at home ceremony of recycling all the prep “stuff”, never to be seen again.

@TripleCrown33 are the results still taking 2-3 weeks? If I remember correctly, that’s how long we had to wait for DS’s 4 years ago.

We received them in 3 business days.

^WOW

My son took it today and although the setup was tedious we did not have technical problems. Note that there are about 20 minutes of various screen checks etc before you get to the test. We weren’t prepared for how long the test took after a couple of practice tests because the addition of the essay, breaks, experimental parts it was a good 3 1/2 hours. I’ll schedule the next one earlier and prepare a heavier breakfast. The email I received said it would take three days to agree.

Also, next time I will have a big sign on the door to keep the little brother out.

When taking the At Home SSAT via computer, are you able to skip questions and go back to them within a section? For example, skip question 5 but then go back to complete it before the section ends.

Asking because only familiar with old school paper test taking experience and DS2 now starting the application process.

DD just said yes. You can skip around within the section as much as you want. Once you answer a question it colors in, so it’s easy to see which questions you need to go back to because they are all clear.

FYI we are still awaiting results from Sat am test. I called and now they are saying about four business days.

^the site says 3 days to schools and then the results released to testers the following day. There is a note on the scores site that says the schools have received the scores today.

Thank you for clarifying @buuzn03

Scores were posted today. Thank you!

@SweetBoy1 @buuzn03 and others, did you check in before the proctor checked in? It says student log on up to 30 minutes earlier and the proctor will check in within 10 minutes of the test.
Last week we checked in and finished everything 20 minutes before the test and then being kicked out saying “due to large volume, you have to reschedule your test”. Trying to figure out whether we checked in too early and how to avoid this next time.

^wow. I can’t imagine being kicked out. We started everything about 20 minutes prior to start time and the proctor came on right about 10-12 minutes prior to her start time (she picked the first available start time).
We had to wait a bit before he/she entered the site. Maybe 5 minutes, if that.
There were several moments of uncertainty but once the proctor was there, they walked DD step by step through the rest of the process.

I think we logged in about twenty before. There was some hiLarious tense of two parents arguing and trying to physically wave around a desktop computer.

I would be awfully annoyed to reschedule.

It took us three tries, but we finally got it to work this past Saturday. So relieved for my kiddo to be done. Test scores were sent three business days later and we received the score four business days later.
