Okay.. so my mom and I were filling the SSS forms and we went away from the computer for a while and it said our session expired. It asked for our log in information and I typed it in and it didn't work. I wrote it down correctly. (I think) and it's still not working.

We called the help line and it's closed.

What do I do?

ignore this.. it's fixed now. :)

OK,

Most common problems are...

Reversing the Pin and the Password -- that is putting the pin where the password belongs and vice versa. I've done it myself.

Caps lock? Don't know if their passwords are case sensitive.

I'll tell you now, they do not reset passwords. They do not have the ability.

If you cannot figure it out, you must start over and open a new application.

The good news is that you don't pay until you submit, so I don't think it cost you any money.

Good Luck

Phew.. I'm glad I finally figured out the password.

I just typed the password incorrectly (twice) when I first signed up. When I was trying to get back in I mispelled the password, or so I thought, and I was about to erase it but I tried it anyway and it worked.

So now the financial aid application is sent. Hopefully I'll get in and with enough aid! At least I don't need as much as I would if I applied to boarding school.

Jonathan,

In the event that you return to the same school next year, I was surprised to find that my D's school requested the SSS be done by Jan 1 for returning students. Makes it more pressed for time.

Regardless of where you go next year, keep that password around and print a copy or 2 and file them now. It makes it sooo much easier to do next year. After you print it out, write notes on the form as to which line off of what statement you got that info, so you can find the stuff easier next year.

They will also delete this year's information early next fall, so if you don't print it now and forget about it, the info won't be there.

Just some helpful hints.

Thanks.

But next year won't it ask for 2007 information and estimated 2008 information?

It'll probably stay the same, though. I don't know, yet.

I did print all of the information out, though, so hopefully if I go to that school next year I won't have to fill it all out again.

My mom gets so stressed out when she has to find all the papers and stuff, but I just tell her to be more organized... lol.

You are correct that it will ask for 2007 + 2008 estimates.

Yes, it will look exactly the same.

I had quite a bit to write in Box 32 (the free space box for explanations of things in various boxes). It was very helpful to have the reminders of what to write in there.

I just found that it saved me a lot of time and worry that I had forgotten something comparing the 2 years' submissions.

Have her file it with her taxes when she completes them and sends a copy to the school. That's what I did, as I get out my tax information at the end of the year to prepare for end-of-year stuff.
