I’m new here. I’ve figured out that a certain amount of interest is needed for a school to have its own forum. After figuring out “Advanced Search” just now and seeing the number of mentions over the past two months, including an 8 post thread just half a month ago, I’d like to request a forum for St. Louis University so this info can be more easily accessed. I’ll be visiting with my son soon, and will share my impressions. Thanks.
I agree with Darden - I’m very surprised there is no forum for St. Louis University, especially since comparable universities (as ranked by US News) do have forums.
I can’t say enough about SLU. My daughter graduated from there last May, and loved it. She had a Presidential Scholarship. It was great. It even covered her tuition for a semester abroad. All we paid for was room, board, books and incidentals. The Pres. Scholars have their own “club”, and get together for different functions. She was involved with that group.
The students were very friendly. When she went for her interview weekend, it was freezing. I had forgotten how cold it could get ( we’re from the south, and anything under 50 degrees is cold). However, everyone was friendly and helpful. They very easily could have looked miserable, but didn’t.
I don’t think that SLU has the reputation of a party school, but I am sure that there is drinking. I don’t think so much in the dorms. There are apartments right off campus that had parties, and on campus apartments for upper classmen, so I am sure that stuff was available, if they wanted it.
My daughter had friends that lived on campus and were commuter students. She made and effort to meet as many people as possible.
I don’t know much about the Prelaw scholars, but several of her friends are currently in law school, but I can’t remember where. Also, a couple got into med school.
SLU has a lovely campus, and I love the view of the arch to the east. Oh, there is a shuttle that my daughter took quite often to the malls out in Clayton. She also volunteered at the hospital, and there was a shuttle there.
