I'm not trying to sound arrogant. You have to admit that surfing is more difficult. I surf in Nantucket. Usually I do 5-10ft waves. Usually around 7 feet. I'm not skilled enough to use a shortboard, so I usually ride a 7-9 foot funboard. I'm not very good though. I always miss my waves and when I do catch them I nosedive. When you do catch a wave... It feels so awesome, almost like your flying.

No, I do not think surfing is more difficult than snowboarding or skiing; have you ever tried doing a 360 off a halfipipe with a snowboard or skii? I wonder if you call that "easy" All the active sports are difficult to me and with enough practice you can overcome all those challenges!

Nantucket is a great place to surf but sometimes the waves are really low, (occasionally) but usually good waves.

Winterset, thanks for your answer :)
And another question - is SPS cliquey?

Yah, waves at Nantucket can get very low at times, but that doesn't really concern me. I usually have more fun on the 3ft waves than the 10ft waves, because they are so much easier to catch and ride.

hmm, all this skiing and boarding arguement... im going to be the minority.... i skiblade =)... its better then skiis... just as fast, much lighter and its is the same motion and feeling as hockey skating, so as a hockey player i love them, also, you can do many tricks and just walk around on them practically.

If you are taller than say 5"9" a 7' board is a short board.
Nosediving is called "Pearling".
Californians call wind coming from the shore and blowing out to sea.."Offshore winds"
Eastcoasters reverse it right?

100 with a bullet!

I'm 5'7" so it is a funboard

Offshore winds are winds that blow from off coast to the beach... I have no idea what you guys in California do.

Peeves :P You asked is SPS cliquey? I would say no, definitely not. My son prides himself on having a broad range of friends. But maybe one of the students here can comment.

Oh and vacation started today, so they are gone for three+ weeks.

yeh, they practically get all March off. maybe so adcoms have sometime for last minute tweaks haha.

You know what I thought was cool about SPS? They have bagels outside of the classrooms. In case you get hungry, I think.

haha, thats a good thought... in my school, if you have even like a granola bar in your pocket outside of the cafeteria, you get detention.. they are scared of like a single crumb even know the hallways are already old and dirty haha.

haha... my school doesn't care much

They are very strict though. My gym class got caught in the boys locker room having a towel whipping fight. We got sent to the auditorium and had to sit through a lecture about how this was harassment, a felony. At the end they told our gym class that they weren't going to get the police involved, but they were going to suspend students. Everyone in the class except for me had to serve a 2 day out of school, one day in school suspension. Everyone is gym stood up for me and I was spared. I was very lucky. It could have ruined my life.

Lol Im not so sure it would have ruined your life. But a suspension is pretty serious.

Yah, it is pretty serious. It sticks on your record when you apply for college and prep school.

I don't understand though. A towel fight?

Ya thats retarded.

haha, our locker rooms are the only care free place... wow, i dont think i have ever gotten in trouble in school. never had to stay after class or even a lunch detention.

Yah... I've have gotten a couple detentions and a time to reflect. Nothing serious though.

Lol Ive gotten lots of stupid detentions. My schools way to uptite.

Peeves :P, I would say that at first SPS kids are pretty cliquey mostly because we're all coming to new school and no one wants be be friendless. But as you get older people start hanging out with other groups of people and other forms. But basically no on is friendless because you can always find someone with the same interests as you because there are so many different types of people.

yeh, for example, the hockey team kids dont go there seprate ways after practice, they all hang out usually over the weekends and stuff, open ice or pond skating is the funnest thing to do in your free time for a couple of hockey jocks haha. also if you play the same instruement as somone or from the same country or just the same art class or something. theres so many different ways to meet people.
