STA Travel

What has your experience been with the USC recommended STA Travel?

When I went down to interview for the Presidential scholarship, USC said they would pay part of my travel expenses if I went through STA Travel. Well, I faxed them and called them multiple times and got nowhere. Ended up paying for it all myself - got tired of waiting for the call back that never came.

Anyhow, was this just a fluke? Should I give them another try sometime?

havnt got my money either

We used them for our Explore USC. Their prices were cheaper than online discounts, even after you add back in their commission. They emailed the tickets (E-Tickets) and everything went just fine for us.

We used STA travel for Explore USC as well. Our experience was quite different.

Airplane tickets for a students bought trough STA were $60 more expensive than tickets for parents through Expedia the same day.
In addition, we were overcharged $18 as the STA representative had troubles with dividing the ticket price in half. After ~10 phone calls when we vigorously defended our ability to use basic math procedures, our account finally was credited $18.
Moreover, our credit card was charged twice for a hotel stay for parents. It took 2 more phone calls to get our money back.

So overall, extremely unpleasent experience!!!!

I've never used STA. I find their fares are generally more expensive than the airline's fare itself.

Thanks for the feedback - - now I know it wasn't just me!

I wasted a lot of time and effort trying to deal with STA Travel....

I used STA for scholarship interview, which was nearly the same price, but had the damn $18 fee. I have no idea if we've been reinburst. Forgot about that!
