Hi! Today my daughter received a Stafford Loan application form. We didn't think anything of it until we saw Haverford's name in the institution field. Does this mean that she probably will be accepted? Like everyone else, we haven't heard anything from the college about a decision.

It probably doesn't mean anything. A college's name can appear on financial aid documents, but that doesn't signify an acceptance.

Then again, she could be part of Haverfod 2010....you'll just have to wait and see! :)

Thanks, equilibrium. As I said, we're trying not to think too much about it. It just seems strange that an official loan application should arrive for one, and only one, of the colleges she has applied to. It's a form specifically for Haverford aid since the college name is printed in the institution field. We can't fill it out and then apply the loan to any of her other schools.

We'll just have to wait a week or so to find out.

We got that today. My guess, based on my child's other early writes and likely letters, is that it's a good sign. But who knows. Of course, it's also a bad sign as I think this means that we won't qualify for other fin aid. Looked at Haverford's supplement and IDOC forms, thinking that we must have checked some box, but we didn't. So, who knows?

I had the same reaction when I realized it meant that it was loans, loans, loans for us. Not that I expected much, if anything.

D would be ecstatic to get into Haverford.
