Hi everyone! I’m new this site and thought I’d post a question: any ideas or tips to make these 23 days go by faster?

Well, Thanksgiving break should go by really fast. Then, just try to focus on schoolwork more than Stanford.

Or, you could live up to your username and travel to Dec. 15…

how many colleges are you all planning to apply to? [including stanford] I think I have 10 total. . .

Hahaha, yeah wouldn’t that be lovely? As for colleges, i’m applying to eight. But four of those are UCs. How many UCs are other people applying to?

GAH i just need an answer from those people. I hate waiting.

i think i’m applying to 9 colleges incl. Stanford

Since we’re all eagerly waiting for decisions (I think they’ll be Dec 11 with Penn), I was wondering if any of you had any superstitions that you’ve been following since you’ve sent your apps in.

For example, while visiting Stanford last year, I got this awesome sweatshirt that I wore the first day I got back home. Since then, I haven’t worn it until I got decisions back because I didn’t want to jinx anything. My one friend removed all the Duke stuff in his room after he applied ED.

Are my friends and I just OCD/a little crazy or do you guys have your own superstitions that you’re hoping will lead to acceptance?

i thought i would make everything supersticious, but to my suprise, this is actually the thing that has convinced me that superstitions dont actually mean anything (i mean rationally we all know this but we still have that irrational wierd doubt… or mabye thats just me)

so yea i dont really, no

i wear a stanford t-shirt every day to sort of get excited but not really to influence the powers that be.

although before i convinced myself that i cant do anything, supernatural or not, about Stanford’s decision regarding me, I would say if i clear 100ft in avalanche then ill be accepted. ([PerthWow: Avalanche | PerthNow](http://www.news.com.au/perthnow/story/0,21598,24859812-5014212,00.html)). And i did one where i entered random numbers and a bunch of sins and cos’s and tans and said if the last number was an even number then I would be accepted…

there were some wierder ones that ive done but i cant recall them.

Haha, I got 190ft after like seven tries. I guess I belong at Stanford. :P

i ment in one try :P

although that is kind of unfair because i played a few times before i did my “official” run (ignoring the fact that i still failed to hit 100 feet).

but it should be done as “if i clear 100 feet in this attempt at avalanche then ill be accepted, if not ill be rejected” vs “if i ever clear 100 feet”

I have a Stanford sweatshirt that I am not wearing until decisions come back. I feel like I’m jinxing it if I wear it…

i almost bought a burgundy/red shirt the other day. . .then decided not to. yup. i felt like i would be punished for being too presumptuous

I’m refusing to think that I’ll be accepted/rejected/deferred. I’m trying to be neutral because if I think I’m going to be accepted, I’ll be rejected. If I think of rejection, I’ll be rejected. And if I think of deferral, I’ll be rejected.

And I haven’t read my essays again because I’ve decided it’s bad luck.

And I haven’t bought a Stanford hoodie yet, just in case.

:] And I say I’m not superstitious.

Oh, and everytime I see someone litter or hang clothes back in the wrong place, I fix it, hoping that my good deeds will help me.

i lol’d, so true

Haven’t worn my Stanford shirt since I apply. Won’t wear it till the day I’m accepted :P

Hope my superstition works!

@everyone on this page

I don’t have a Stanford shirt :(

I don’t have any Stanford memorabilia
I’ve certainly looked through the online shop, though, and I’m tellin’ ya, if I get accepted, I will be loadin’ up.
I’m starting to get a lot more resigned to rejection, though.

Dude, Nitro, that game is soooooo hard! I was planning on playing ping pong all Thanksgiving break, but I may have to supplement it with Avalanche.

@Prussia!

Same here man… none.

Damn… the decision day (d-day) is approaching… kinda nervous.

Yea there is a really steep learning curve for it… its pretty brutal the first couple of tries

@Nitro

Off to ping pong ;)
