stanford admission easier from east or west coast?

is it easier to get in to stanford from the west coast or from the east coast?
(what about for transfer apps?)

Although a great portion of Stanford admits come from California, I think that they do value candidates from the east coast because they need geographic diversity. I would say that there is a negligible difference in chances based on east/west geographic location.

EAST!!! My school is in San Francisco and we have gotten 3/45 girls who applied into Stanford since 2000, compared to 3/21 for Harvard, 4/16 to Princeton or 3/13 for Yale.

The difference is that some qualified people from the east coast apply to Stanford. EVERYONE from the west does, and Stanford, like every school, wants geographic diversity.

The new director of admissions is on record as wanting to increase east coast representation at Stanford.

Stanford is relatively new to being a world class college. For decades it was the college where mostly the best from CA went. Undergrad is still half from CA!! This can't go on much longer. There are a ton of rich legacies and development candidates that are accomodated. After that,m I think non Asian from east coast has the leg up.

That is not surprising, of course, since Dean Shaw was Yale's admission dean before being Stanford's...
