Stanford asked to consider an engineering campus in New York City

oops. Actually UC Santa Barbara is #1 in Materials Engineering, in both the R and S methodologies of the latest NRC report.

Over at USNWR, MIT is the number one grad program: :-)

[Best Material Engineering Programs | Top Engineering Schools | US News Best Graduate Schools](http://grad-schools.usnews.rankingsandreviews.com/best-graduate-schools/top-engineering-schools/material-engineering-rankings)

This is a cool idea and all, but for some reason I think it would be even better if Stanford considered this campus in…Palm Springs!

^^You wouldn’t want to be attending school there in the summer months that’s for sure!

Why create another school on the East Coast-
How about Harvard opens up a campus in Silicon Valley?

UCSB is #1 for materials engineering. I always laugh when people UCSB has only partying to recommend it; there are some superlative, top-ranked departments, there, in a gorgeous setting.

MIT
Purdue
Ga Tech
UC Berkeley
MIT
Stanford
Michigan
UC Santa Barbara

Guess which one is tops, no real debate, consensus #1? Of course it only matters if you are a Materials Engineer, but then again, if you are, it matters everything.

^We already have Caltech in LA. Why is there a need to MIT to establish itself there?

I know. MIT West - School of Humanities :p
