Did you RD?

I think that your stats are competitive, but your chances are probably less than the overall acceptance rate unless you are a recruited athlete.

It clearly looks like you could succeed at Stanford if you are accepted there. It also looks like you could succeed pretty much wherever you end up.

yeah

Do you have an idea of what type of colleges I would have a mediocre chance to get into?

“Do you have an idea of what type of colleges I would have a mediocre chance to get into”

I will assume that you are a US citizen or permanent resident, and a NJ resident.

I certainly hope that Rutgers would be a safety. Your guidance counselor would know for sure. Admissions at McGill is based largely on stats, and yours are very good. This would give you very good chances there.

Otherwise there are a lot of schools that are very good for computer science. The top ones such as Stanford and MIT and Carnegie Mellon are a reach for everyone, other than perhaps straight A students who happen to be the children of popular presidents of friendly countries.

@rballer123 “Do you have an idea of what type of colleges I would have a mediocre chance to get into”

First of all, your reading score on the SAT is below par for the reach schools, and you’re in a competitive demographic. So there’s that.

Rutgers has a well respected CS department. Any other “safeties” would probably be at the same or lower level for CS. A lot of NJ students, particularly in the Indian community that I am familiar with, think lowly of Rutgers, apply to Rutgers anyway + only reach schools , get rejected from all reach schools, and then end up enrolling at- wait for it -Rutgers. Happens to families I know every year, and people are still surprised after all these cycles! BTW, the Rutgers Honors College has a median SAT score of 1530. Tells you how competitive the top tier pool is at Rutgers.
